ProActive is an Open Source Java library (LGPL) for parallel, distributed, and multi-threaded computing, also featuring mobility and security in a uniform framework. With a reduced set of simple primitives, ProActive provides a comprehensive toolkit that simplifies the programming of applications distributed on Local Area Networks (LANs), Clusters, Internet Grids and Peer-to-Peer Intranets.
- IDE: Standalone or Eclipse Plugin for monitoring parallelism and distribution, timing and benchmarking performances to improve applications.
- Programming/Composing: High-level frameworks make parallel programming easy. A powerful API for flexibility: asynchrony, groups, migration, futures. Components for code reuse and SOA, and Legacy code management (e.g. C, C++, scrips, MPI)
- Deployment: Interoperability with all protocols and Grid infrastructures, Desktop Grid, File transfer and ad hoc Scheduling.
- Services: Features such as Fault-Tolerance, Load Balancing, Security and others can be added at deployment time.
- Standards: ProActive interfaces with many de facto standards (e.g. Eclipse, Web Services, JMX, OSGi, Globus, LSF, PBS, SGE, LoadLeveler, EGEE gLite, Unicore, ssh).
