Gaim : A multi-protocol instant messaging (IM) client

Gaim has been renamed to Pidgin.

Pidgin is a graphical modular messaging client based on libpurple which is capable of connecting to AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, XMPP, ICQ, IRC, SILC, SIP/SIMPLE, Novell GroupWise, Lotus Sametime, Bonjour, Zephyr, MySpaceIM, Gadu-Gadu, and QQ all at once. It is written using GTK+.

Have buddies with more than one IM account? You can combine them so that they take only a single spot on your buddy list which you can expand when necessary.

You can now format your messages with WYSIWYG capibilities---no more distracting HTML tags.

Gaim is as configurable as it needs to be. It provides plenty of options to suit your tastes, but doesn't bog you down with needless options you're not likely to care about.
